Imposter Syndrome

Imposter Syndrome

A few years ago I don’t think we truly understood what Imposter Syndrome was and how it affects each of us. I’ve struggled recently to know what to write about, how to approach this space, how to navigate marketing a book, where to begin with really developing a concept.

It’s because I struggle with Imposter Syndrome. Who am I? I’m just a small town Southern girl, the first person on either side of my family to graduate from University and go on to obtain a Master’s degree.  I’m a dreamer who’s always known I’d leave my little town and go on to do big things.

Yet…

What are those big things?

For me it’s been volunteering overseas, exploring the world, understanding humanity across cultures, learning how to relate to others, understanding empathy, and then learning how to help others heal.

In the end I know that when I put those positive thoughts in my mind, I’m not imposter at all. I do know a lot about other cultures. I do know a lot about education. I do know a lot about early childhood development. I know a lot about trauma and enjoy presenting on the topic of adverse childhood experience and how to combat trauma.

Some days I may not feel like an expert but in reality, I am Bridgette Melton, children’s author and trauma expert, developer of Melton’s Emotional Recognition through Auditory Awareness.
